What Is Reactivity?Reactivity is a term often used in chemical discussion. This word relates to the reaction of one substance to another. Chemical reactions are also called transients, meaning that one chemical substance changes to another within a very short time. We can sometimes even see this happening in the light that we can see light.The type of reaction in which we are most familiar with is the reaction between two substances, usually the oxygen in an oxidizing chemical and the hydrogen in a reducing chemical. As these reactions go on they will produce some of the chemical elements that we experience. However, these chemical reactions are not the only types of reactions that happen in nature. There are other types of reactions that happen. For example, the reaction between two molecules in water is the common reaction in a pitcher and the reaction between water and acid is the most common reaction that we encounter.The chemical reactivity can be classified into two broad group s. First, there are irreversible processes and these are the types of reactions that tend to occur in nature.Second, there are reversible processes and these are the types of reactions that tend to occur in artificial or inorganic systems. There are also different types of reactions in which certain chemicals react with the compounds that are around them. Examples of this are reactions between the metal with an organic compound, the reaction between a metal and a carbon-based compound, the reactions between silicate minerals and crystals of silicon, and the reaction between an alkali metal and a protein. These are the types of reactions that are often encountered in nature. However, it should be remembered that these types of reactions are all over the place in nature.The types of reactions are also important for the chemical reactivity definition. The two basic types of reactions that happen are those which include two compounds, or mixtures of two substances, and those that includ e a single compound. In the case of mixtures, there is normally more than one reaction going on, which is why these types of reactions need to be separated from transients.Reactions can be classified according to the effects that the chemical reactivity has on the system that they happen in. These effects can be in the form of toxicity, impurity, or change in the properties of the system. One can look at the example of a simple reaction like hydrolysis and see what effects it has on the system.Reactions can also be classified according to the types of molecules that they contain. Reactions with all the common organic molecules, i.e. amino acids, alcohols, esters, ketones, ketones, ethers, phosphates, and other salts of organic compounds are usually classified as cations and non-cations reactions.
